“Improving Outcomes in Parotid Surgery”

Objective- To discuss factors that will enable the Otolaryngologist to improve outcomes in parotid surgery.
Methods- The presenter will discuss indications for parotid surgery focusing on surgery for benign disease, facial nerve identification and dissection, essential facial reanimation, revision surgery, facial recontouring, and postoperative management.
Results- Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the above factors which should enhance outcomes for their parotidectomy cases going forward. Results of the author’s experience with facial nerve outcomes, Frey’s syndrome and facial reconstruction will be discussed.
Conclusion- Parotidectomy is commonly performed by the Otolaryngologist. The goal of this session will be to facilitate discussion regarding parotidectomy which could potentially lead to improving outcomes for those in attendance.
